MEET SARA
Sara Kercho, supervised by Dr. Sacky Holdiness, LPC, NCC, is pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University, anticipating graduation in Summer 2025. She holds a Bachelor of Science in International Communication from Texas Christian University. With a decade of experience as a public high school fine arts dance teacher and drill team director, Sara takes pride in the relationships she has built with her students. She consistently strives to create a safe, inclusive environment where students can explore, connect, and express themselves without judgment. She has conducted workshops focused on social-emotional learning at the Center for Educator Development in Fine Arts Summit and the Texas Dance Educators Convention. Additionally, she enjoys providing mental health resources and leadership training to both dance students and teachers.
Sara is currently a member of the American Counseling Association, working toward her certification in Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Her counseling approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, with a priority on providing the best methods for your individual needs and goals. Sara aims to create a therapeutic relationship based on empathy and empowerment. She recognizes that taking the step to seek counseling can be uncomfortable, and she is ready to meet you where you are on your wellness journey.
