I view therapy as a dynamic process, one that flexes and flows according to your individual needs. The therapeutic space we create together serves as your anchored support, allowing you to approach it at your own pace. You have the freedom to engage deeply or take a step back whenever you feel it's necessary. Each person's journey through therapy is distinct, shaped by personal goals, levels of distress, and the unique challenges posed by daily life.
As we progress in our therapeutic relationship, we'll continuously assess how well therapy is resonating with you. This ongoing reflection ensures that you feel supported in the ways that matter most. Remember, you are in charge of your therapy journey; it concludes only when you feel ready to move on.

The first step in Unearthing is to learn more about you, your needs, and your hopes by meeting for an intake session. The intake session can take place virtually or in person. Together, we will create an intention plan for your current hopes, needs, and goals. This personalized approach ensures that we choose the frequency of our sessions—typically weekly or biweekly—that best supports your wellness journey. This collaborative process fosters a nurturing environment where you can flourish and progress at your own pace.
Sessions can take place in the office setting, outside, virtually or on a trail!

Somatic therapy is a holistic method of healing that emphasizes the profound interplay between the mind and body. By tuning into physical sensations—whether it's tension, discomfort, or a sense of ease—clients gain valuable insights into their emotional landscape and what their bodies truly require.
In the therapeutic space, individuals are invited to engage in practices such as breath work, movement, and mindfulness. These activities encourage the release of stored emotions and stress, promoting a deepened awareness and fostering overall well-being. Particularly beneficial for those grappling with trauma, anxiety, or chronic pain, somatic therapy paves the way for healing from within, allowing individuals to connect with their bodies and nurture a more balanced and resilient self.

The fundamental premise of a Nature-based approach is that the well-being of humans is intimately linked with their environment and the natural world. Humans are nature. While these sessions may be practiced outdoors, in office or virtually, the focus always includes nature engagement in some form for the purpose of achieving therapeutic goals. Nature-based sessions draw on mindfulness, sensory awareness, eco-art, engagement with spontaneous natural events, contact with nature/living beings as emotional resources, gentle to moderate physical activities, yoga, walk and talks, meditation, adventure therapy, animal assisted therapy and nature conservation.

Trauma Conscious Yoga (TCY), or trauma-sensitive yoga, uses practices from traditional yoga and somatic psychotherapy. Both evidence based practices are created to empower clients, to assist in reconnecting the mind and body. A TCY teacher is specially certified to assist clients who are living with and healing from trauma. By avoiding actions, phrases, conditions and situations that are common triggers, TCY teachers create a safe environment for exploring and healing.

TRE® (Trauma Release Exercises) is a simple approach to releasing tension and stress from the body. This practice involves completing a series of seven exercises that specifically target the psoas muscles, which help trigger a natural shaking or “tremoring” throughout the entire body. By doing so, it enables individuals to release both acute and chronic stress while fostering a sense of balance, relaxation, and relief from tension. TRE® is accessible to everyone and is beneficial not only for managing everyday stressors but also for unearthing deeply rooted trauma.

An anti-oppressive therapy practice acknowledges the deep-rooted structural and systemic inequalities that shape our lives. It recognizes the dynamics of power and oppression, where social groups are positioned on a spectrum—some wielding privilege and power, while others face marginalization. This understanding fosters compassion, illuminating how each person's experiences are influenced by the broader systemic context in which they exist. By recognizing which end of the spectrum individuals find themselves on, we develop a more nuanced understanding of their unique journeys.
This approach emphasizes a relational dynamic of equality that invites us to dismantle the traditional power hierarchies often present in therapeutic settings. By doing so, we create a safe space where all voices are valued, promoting genuine connection and healing for everyone involved. The goal is to cultivate a practice where each individual's experiences are honored, allowing for growth and transformation in a supportive and equitable environment.
Your therapist will:
- acknowledge and respect each person’s cultural, religious, spiritual practices and identity.
- honor the language of each person.
- respect each person’s identify, pronouns and name.
- support those that are open to reconsize and chanllenge internalized racism, sexism, any -ism.
- engage in life long learning and self-reflection to better support clients.
