This will be our FIRST storytelling gathering! It’ll be a super chill experience, no pressure and no expectations. Let's get together and create something new from something old!
UnEarthed is delighted to host this monthly gathering, a welcoming and inclusive space designed to foster connection and inspiration through the art of storytelling. Throughout existence, storytelling has been a profound resource for honoring and celebrating the rich tapestry of human experiences while weaving together the shared threads that unite us all. Join us as we explore narratives and deepen relationships to self and others.
For this storytelling group, we welcome a variety of expressions. You might choose to tell or read a personal story, share a poem you've written or one that resonates with you, or find a unique way to convey your story through movement, sign language, miming, or another expressive form that aligns with you. There's no need to be a "natural" or "professional" storyteller, poet, or writer to participate.
We're ALL storytellers with unique voices and experiences to share. So whether you're a seasoned storyteller, a first timer, a curious listener or simply looking to connect, we invite you to join us in the backyard and share your voice and/or listening ears with the community!
THE DETAILS:
Share an autobiographical story, read an excerpt from your favorite book, or even a poem you've written — all forms of story are welcome.
No experience or formal training is necessary; come as you are and share your story!
Each person will have 5-10 minutes to share their story, depending on the number of storytellers. After each story, we will pause briefly to allow time for reflection, feedback, sharing, and questions if desired.
Bring something comfy to sit on (chair, blanket, mat, cushion……). UnEarthed will offer lite bites, tea and water. Feel free to bring your own things to munch on as well.
Families and kids are welcome as long as they are “engaging” the group. We will have chess, checkers and cards for playing during experience.
Rules for Storytellers (because we know some of you can get a bit wild!)
1. We’re all about celebrating the vibrant tapestry of human experiences. Spread the love in your stories!
2. Feel free to share stories that highlight our unique differences while reminding us of what brings us all together as humans.
3. Stereotypes, discrimination, and hate? No thanks! You are not allowed in this space.
4. Absolutely no jokes or themes that poke fun at class, gender, race, sexual orientation, or body type. Respect y’all!
5. Stories that included unwanted advances, slurs, and hate speech? Nope, absolutely not allowed.
6. This is your storytelling stage - no stand-up comedy, preaching, rants, lectures, essays, or confessions.
7. No recording unless given explicit permission by anyone sharing.
8. If you are bringing children or teens, please note that no devices will be allowed during the experience. We are here for human connection.
